For structure (posts/beams), we use #1 Western Red Cedar. For decking/surfaces, we recommend Ipe, Thermally Modified Ash, or Trex Composite.
In Houston, we recommend re-oiling Cedar every 2-3 years to maintain the rich color. Ipe can be left to turn silver-grey or oiled annually.
